is heat sink required for absolute maximum current of 10mA?

I am working on an IC which has absolute maximum continuous current of 10mA and absolute maximum momentary input current of 100mA.
Do I need to use a heat sink for this?

Heating depends on power dissipation. Power is voltage multiplied by current (watts = volts × amps). Assuming those figures are for current actually used internally by the IC, not just passed through the IC to an external load, multiply them by the supply voltage to get the amount of power dissipated. The amount of power that can be safely dissipated without heatsinking depends on the surface area of the package. For a TO-92 I avoid going over about 1/3W. For an 8-pin DIP I wouldn't go over about 2/3W. For SMT packages the limit can be a lot lower.
