Intermittant FM Reception on Car Stereo HELP

My Alpine receiver won't hold a signal in FM mode. If I rap on the FM rf
section it will somtimes come back, play for a few minutes then completely
blank out to a low static. When fm works, it sound excellent. Everything
else including AM and Cassette works excellent.

Any suggestions?

There is most likely a cold solder connection, or a component that is
becoming mechanicaly intermittant. Most any of the components in the
signal path can cause the radio to fail if they stop conducting the
signal. This will require proper attention to service. An experienced
tech who is set up to work on auto radios should be able to find the
problem for you.

Its not made by Bush is it? I had a cd radio cassette where the
FM would not work most of the time, it had a few spells when it
worked but mostly it was dead bar a very soft static.
Why it sometimes worked was a mystery to me as I could
find no pattern in its quirky behaviour.

Anyway I eventually got the to replace it at some cost to
me.
Maybe it uses the same shite, chips or circuit design?
