Dave, not get off your subject, but depending on the area of coverage, from
up to about 60 feet, Optex has several units which are very reliable, and
there are several on-line stores which can offer you pricing on the units.
They will follow. Anything longer than 60' you get involved with a little
pricier unit, such as ProTech (which is a dual tech - PIR/Microwave) or Red
Wall, which makes both PIR/Microwave and long range Microwave units. Keep in
mind though, none of these units has a relay built in strong enough to
switch 120 VAC @ 5 amps. Typically these units are rated at less than an amp
at DC voltage. An extra relay will be needed to turn these lights on. The
only reason I say this, and not to assume your not aware of it, is that I
have seen several installations where this was attempted, both by security
companies, and electricians. Typically it will work once, and then good bye
relay.
You may also want to consider using a control panel to control these lights.
A control panel can give you better control of the inputs and outputs, and
allow you to manually check lights for servicing. Just a thought...no
assumptions.
