Increasing brightness of LCD display on radio

C

Chaos Master

Hello people.

I have a pocket radio with a LCD display that shows current station
frequency and if the radio is on AM, SW or FM.

However, the LCD display isn't very bright. (I have to put it against a
source of light to be able to read it)

Q: How would I do to increase the brightness of this LCD display?

"Now: the 2-bit processor, with instructions:
1. NOP - does nothing, increase PC.
2. HLT - does nothing, doesn't increase PC
3. MMX - enter Pentium(r) emulation mode; increase PC
4. LCK - before MMX: NOP ; after MMX: executes F0 0F C7 C8 "

Depends if the display is reflective illuminated, using the ambient light to
allow its characters to be seen; or back lit by some type of incandescent or
florescent lamp behind the actual display. Less expensive devices will
normally make use of the reflective type of display. Happy Holidays

Reflective. I am considering mounting a small white LED near it, as if I
put a white light (the flashlight from my cell phone) at it, the LCD is
readable.

Sounds like a viable plan, suggest one on each side (laterally mounted). Let
us know how it works!! BTW Have a Safe and Great New Year!!

I found that by putting good batteries ("Power Alkaline"... normal
batteries don't do it for long), the display is bright enough to be
readable.
