In need of some assistance - faulty desk lamp

Hello

I have a small LED piano lamp which has a 5v dc input and a self locking switch (I think). There is a small pcb of which the mains lead pugs in to (assuming this is the power supply module) which also connects the battery leads to the LED circuit. I think that this pcb/power supply module is faulty however struggling to find a replacement. Everything I have found starts at a higher voltage e.g. 6.5-12v and has an output of 5v but I already have 5v dc at the power lead. Don't want to just bypass this module as assuming it protects the LEDs. Can anyone suggest where I might find a replacement, what it would be called and/or how I can fix this. The switch is a separate unit at the moment, linked with two leads inside the lamp base unit. The lamp is a stagg STLED 10.

It appears that there is a black wire that has come unsoldered from the battery pack:

Do you have a soldering iron so you could fix it?

The lamp should work when you plug it into the wall, but not when it's running on batteries if that's the only thing.

Thanks for this. Unfortunately this is not the cause. I managed to detach this whilst fiddling. I am getting 5v dc at the power input and appears to be going to the switch. However, only 1v at the terminals for the LED circuit.

Are there any components on the other side of the PCBs? What type of battery do you use, are they rechargeable types? Have you tried it with and without the batteries?

Hi, yes, there is 1 small resistor and some very small flat square chip type components. It doesn't work on battery or mains. Just AAs. Pretty sure I just need to replace that little power module circuit board but it's obviously specifically manufactured for this lamp.

Can you please clear this up? Does this mean it does or does not work on batteries?

In your troubleshooting, are you referring to an external battery pack that you connect to the DC input where the mains adaptor goes?
