I'm baffled by which type of SIMM memory I need to buy.

I think the make and model of the motherboard is what they were asking. Is there any identifying label on the motherboard that would
identify the maker. Even the FCC number will help.

For id'ing the motherboard, AIDA32 will do. www.aida32.hu .

Hi
I am need of some advice please. I would like to upgrade my hand built
Pentium 2 MMX PC which runs W98SE. Currently I have 64Mb on board 2 x
32mb. A program which has checked out my PC informs me that I have two
slots free and the maximum I can upgrade the memory to is 128Mb and
the maximum one slot can take is 32mb. There seems to be a baffling
variety of SIMMS available.

My questions are:
If upgrading, do I have to buy memory that is fully compatible with
the memory already installed?

Which SIMM spec do I choose?
50ns, 60ns or 70ns? Parity or Non-Parity? Tin or Gold? Fast Page Mode
or EDO? Is the voltage of 5v important? Also 2/4k Reflash mode, is
this significant?

I have had a good look around the web but there was not really a site
I could find that would answer all my questions. Maybe because SIMMs
are a little long in the tooth now. Do you know a good web site?

I have logged onto the Kingston web site but for them to advise they
need to know the make and model of the PC but as mine is hand built I
cannot answer this question.

Is there a good UK site to buy the memory?

Any advice gratefully received.
Many thanks

To insure compatibility, I would use the same type memory as you have installed now.

Yes. Mine uses 60ns Non-Parity EDO. This seems to be as much an interface chipset requirement as processor.

What you need to know is the make and model of the motherboard.
