Identifying TO-3 transistor pins?

Mark

How do I differentiate between the E and B pins of a TO-3 case power
transistor? 2N3055 if I remember correctly. Thanks.

How do I differentiate between the FIVE copies of your post I've
received time stamped between 20:38 and 20:53?

I read in sci.electronics.design that Terry Pinnell <terrypinDELETE@THES

Ruling out referring to the time-stamp as too easy, did he use different
coloured inks?

Perhaps you should send a complaint to [email protected]? Maybe they
know how to tell all these posts apart. ;-)

I believe the "standard" is:

Hold device so a line _between_ the pins is horizontal, and that line
is above the center-line of the package, then read, left-to-right, B-E

No, no! You hold it so the line through both pins is _below_ the
centerline, and then it's E-B. ;-)

Cheers!
