I would like to build tach for a small diesel. magnet, sensor, counter, LED

I would like to build a tach for a small diesell. Simple
magnet, pick up, counter LED readout. Is there schematics for this project?

I know its not digital , but I made this for my Yanmar diesel engine in my boat & it works fine. Reed switches weren't mutch good as sensors so went for a hall device & a small magnet on crank pulley. The gauge was a salvaged tacho of another instrument panel I had laying around, & im only using the meter part of it,

The coil was being fed 50hz power for calibration purposes, this was triggering the hall sensor and gave a reading of 3000rpm for a single pulse per revolution.

That's a good one debe, with the addition of an LM3914 and a few other components it would be able to drive a bar graph display.

I've got a few of those kicking around.
In a half finished project to drive a bar-graph along the perimeter of my speedometer with rectangular LEDs ;)

Thanks, it works great. And the bar display is better for reading at a glance, great idea. When it's installed and I'm confident of it, I'll post. It's a combination of all the above. Thanks, Slim
