At the risk of sounding dumb in my first post here I go.
I am trying to build a 2 part device. The first part takes information in the form of rs232 data and transmits it to the second one using an rf transmitter. The second one takes this data received from a keypad wired directly into it and transmits it over SMS.
To keep the whole thing small I have Been looking into System on a chip solutions but all the chips I have found are for cellphones and include way more than what I need like camera and hd video. this makes the system more complex and larger than I would like. Also I don't need 1ghz of processing power.
I was wondering if there are any SoC solutions for dumb phones that integrate just quadband radio and processors and UART controllers for the peripherals.
I have spent about two days looking for a chip with my specifications but they all either lack the radio or have way more features than what I need.
the alternative would be a multi chip approach this isn't nearly as small
