Hi,

I have a couple of backup tape drives that I would like to
troubleshoot and repair. (one DLT and one DAT)

Can someone point me in the right direction to say a "howto" on the
subject resides, or supply me with some insightfull info?

Thanks

Having repaired analog tape recorders I suspect that the equipment
required to repair DAT/DLT may be more expensive than the tape drive
itself.

DLT drives apparently have a common problem with the tape pickup
mechanism, and I've seen the part alleged to repair that problem
sold on eBay.

Older DLT drives were made by Quantum, and some technical information
was available on their site. It was nothing like a maintenance
manual, however.

DAT uses similar technology to video tapes, in so far as an helical
scanning head is used. So at least some of the information on the
repair of video will also apply to DAT.
