how to remove rubber coating on components

I have approximetly 50 1000w digital ballast that i need to try and repair( as requested by my cheap boss's)

The entire board looks like it was dipped in bucket of rubber.


Any ideas as to how to remove as muchof it as possible?

I heated oven to approx 170° , placed a open ballast in for about 20
Minutes and was able to start peeling the rubber coating. There
has to be a better option!

Anyone ideas?

They don't put that stuff on to make it easy to remove.

Congratulations on finding a non-destructive way to remove it.
