How to connect headphones to rca outputs on dvd player

Hi all,

I was wondering if anyone knows a cheap and easy way to connect my
headphones (with a single stereo plug) to the rca outputs (red/white)
on my dvd player, and preferably still obtain stereo sound?

Unfortunately, my TV doesn't have a headphone socket.

Anyone have any experience with cordless infrared/RF headphones? The
transmitter piece will supposedly connect to rca outputs, but from
what I've read on the net, sound quality can apparently be really
poor?

I have no idea about IR headphones. For wireless I use an FM bug I built
with a portable radio with head phones.

All you need is a RCA->3.5 Stereo socket cable.

I'd suspect Dick Smith would have sucha a thing.

If it didn't exixt for some reason there I'd search at online stores (be
cheaper too).

Finally if no luck then it would cost about $3 in components from Dick Smith
to create. You just buy the ends and solder them onto whatever length of
wire you want.

get a converter/adapter from Dick Smith or Tandy. Won't cost much.

Doesnt your DVD player have a headphone socket ? Every one that i can
ever recall seeing has got one


If not - then you can make (or buy) an adaptor to take the RCA socket
output directly to a headphone type socket (either 3.5mm or 6.5mm to
suit the phones you are using.).


You might not get much volume from the RCA output though, at this
point you would need to buy or make a small headphone ampilifier but
at this point its probably a better idea to put the money towards
buying a new DVD player with a headphone socket already fitted.

Alternately - you can take the RCA output of the DVD player to your
stereo system, gheto blaster etc and use the headphone socket on it
instead.

Funny, almost every one I've seen did not. Microphone inputs are far more
common.

Why would you put a microphone input on a DVD player???? Seems a bit of a
waste to me...

Of course on a DVD recorder would make more sense, but a mic on a
player??????

Exactly,the Chinese are big fans, and since nearly all players are made in
China, Karaoke is a common feature. Headphone output is not.
