How to build a simple traffic light?

Hi,
I'm not an expert in electronics but for school I need to build a traffic light.
Sorry If you can't understand something but english isn't my first language and in my language there isn't any forum.

I saw this circuit online and I can buy everything I need, but I don't undestand if those things in the bottom are capacitors, if they need to be 100uF and at what voltage they need to be.
Can you help me?
Is there any simpler circuit that will work like a real traffic light?
Thanks

The things at the bottom most certainly are capacitors and together with the resistor they are connected to, are responsible for the timing of the light.

Take a look at the voltage of your circuit. Buy capacitors that are rated for at *least* the same voltage, or ideally higher than what you will be working with.
I replaced broken 12V capacitors in a broken monitor with 16V capacitors.... The voltage rating is what they are good *up-to*. The Farad rating is their capacity and must be matched.

It seems like you have a good grasp already. I would encourage you to build that circuit.
When it comes time to build, make it on a 'breadboard' first before you solder anything.
Keep it as neat and tidy as you can, it helps ;)
