Hitachi 65SWX20B power, sound but no picture!

hi,
this tv suddenly stopped showing the picture...still powers on and sound comes out but nothing at all on the screen...what is the best way to troubleshoot this and get it up and running without investing too much cash...i am comfortable with board soldering and basic meter use...many thanks in advance!

I used to have a TV like this, not the same brand, but a large rear projection TV.

It had the same thing happen, I opened it up and found that a bulb had burn out, and that a new one cost the same as a new flat-screen TV

I just got a new one and gave the old one to someone who wanted it (I would have to pay to throw it away)
