Help for component identification

On the attached picture you can see the blown component. It is designated as EC4. There is another similar component as EC4. On this component (a diode???) are the letters "AA8G".
I am very unfamiliar to those SMD components and their designations. Can someone tell me what these two components (EC4 EC5) are? Thank you...

In some case EC is used for SMT Electrolytic Capacitor - solid electrolyte type.

And looking at the circuit, I suspect U5 is a voltage regulator chip and these two caps (EC4 and EC5) are bypass caps for it. Looks like a 1206 size (measure the good one, see if it is 0.12" x 0.06") and I would think 10 uF would be good. As for voltage, just be sure the voltage is high enough to handle the applied.

The way EC4 failed, it looks like either an overvoltage or a reverse polarity was applied. In either of those cases, you might want to check U5.
