hello guys any idea on amplifying WiFi 2.4Ghz Signal?

** Sure - just connect it up to the Magnetron in your microwave oven.

Imagine 800 watts of POWER !!

** Good too see you agree with me on ONE thing, at least.

I often agree with you actually Phil.

It seems that Google groups has replaced WebTV as the finest source of inane
posts.

Hello everyone here seems to be extra helpful bunch of kiddies who
still suck enough on a daily basis

And also Eyore at first grow some initiative and learn stuff and face
problems if you dont know how to work with RF amplifiers to work on a
simple wifi booster just say so and i think you might need to mature a
bit - this is a bloody basic electronics fora and kids with such a
temper as yours are ruining it

Well....... Since you're here..............

First off a post from someone posting as " dSaINt}S{ " from google groups with a
gmail address doesn't get much credibility. Especially when the question is very
vague. Do you know about Usenet and nntp btw ?

Your ISP does actually provide the right means......
News (NNTP) Server: news.terra.net.lb
http://corp.terra.net.lb/Support/TechnicalInfo.asp

Since you're talking wi-fi that means 2 way communication. An amplifier only works
one way so your question was critically flawed anyway.

Have you tried using a better antenna ? That's the simplest answer.

And on the temper front - I reckon you need to get a grip ! No temper here but you
seem a bit hot under the collar.

Graham ( age 52 btw )

No our isps in malta does not use News servers im sorry form my google
usage is it suck a problem if you use google. I will try another news
server :) thankyou Graham age 52

and as for an amplifier it works it is called a wifi booster or simply
a two way amplifier I am a computer security specialist and again my
ISP is not the one you linked ;)

You have to pay attention and not use to much power and that is a
concern

Thankyou and excuse me for my bad temper - but I am quite new to usenet
and it seems so full of spam sometimes

D

dSaINt}S{

Yes i know that loads of places sell them I am just intrested in
getting a grab on the circuit to better an apple air port because those
cannot support booster because of the lack of antenna out they use
built in antennas

and btw the antenna i am using is 27db parbolic dish my coverage
reaches 5.4 miles at full signal strength and sorry for my bad temper
guys but everytime i use a news gropup everyonje screws up because i am
not using NNTP i dont have neither does my ISP i am trying to get hold
of one :)

any ideas

** Why ?

Do you imagine YOU can make one ?

" I am a computer security specialist .. "

Shame you are not an RF engineer.

Yeah Shame on me thats why i came and asked someone but casually its
the only time i logged in a newsgroup and getting no help at all - just
kiddin

No just want to understand the technology behind it because this device
elevates the possibility of holes in WEP security protocol. It seem no
one here is an RF engineer but right its just a shame

Google Groups provides an utterly crippled interface to usenet.

and as for an amplifier it works it is called a wifi booster or simply
a two way amplifier

So why were you asking ? But not an 'amplifier' as you originally asked.

I am a computer security specialist and again my
ISP is not the one you linked ;)

Yes. http://www.forteinc.com/main/homepage.php $ 2.95 ( USD ) a month.

If you can do 5.4 mi over 802.11 x I'm interested !

You'll also avoid causing bad tempers by not *top-posting* !!!!

Strangely enough it's something I'm quite literally looking at right now in the
2.4GHz band.

Thankyou Graham for your help also excuse me for being illiterate on
newsgroups i normally scan newsgroups for security reasons - i am
specialized in encryption

dSaINt}S{

on the spoofing claim my ISP does not have a proper mailserver aimed at
their users maybe that lebanon one hase something to do with the
bandwith provision :)

regarding wifi and high range i am using a CISCO router with a parbolic
antenna and a glorified cantenna

No problem - as a newbie you can quickly mend your ways !

I would genuinely be interested in details about your long range at 2.4GHz. It's
something I have to look into.
