Gould 4100 info please

Hello. does anyone have a manual/scematic for a 4100 storage scope. In particular I need to know the value of IC406. It is a voltage reg, but mine has fried itself. Any help would be very much appreciated. Steve.

Hello, Steve. Welcome to the Forum! :)

After a quick look on google the service manual doesn't appear to be available... How about showing us some close up/well lit photos of the part, some one maybe able to identify it.
Dan

Thank you Dan and Martin for your help on this. The regulator is a 100ma positive type and is something to do with the eht setting, which is why I would rather not experiment. The eht lead runs about 20mm away from this reg. and I think it may have flashed over (a crack , then smoking reg). I am replacing the eht lead and re potting the multiplier. The feed into the reg is about 19 volts, incidentaly. So thats the story! thanks again guys.

I was going to post something sarcastic, but a photo really may help, as well a photo of the removed device and information about its orientation I'd that is not obvious from the board.

Hmm, sounds like you have already identified your regulator.
Approx 19v, 100ma and TO92 package. the xx78Lxx series seem to fit the bill.

Or was that just an example?

My guess is that if it is a 78L series, it will be 5V or 12V.

Trace where the +5V is going, that should give you a clue. If not, wire in a 78L05 and see what happens.

Thank you Steve and everybody else for all your advice. There has been a developement, in that I have sourced a manual from the USA, so will hang on till it arrives, and I will let you know what this reg is! This is my first time on any forum and it's great. By the way, I am an ex Gould employee. Thank you again steve

Hello Stephen,

i have a lot of gould scopes and search for the manual also a long time.
did you get yours ? Is it possible to get a copy of it ?
Im also looking for a long time for a service manual from the 700/800/900 series.
Have you still contacts with other gould employees in the USA, maybe they can help...

If it's any help, I have manuals for OS253, OS255, OS1420, OS1425, OS3000, OS3351, OS4040, 4042, 4044, K101D, K102D, K105D, K115D, K205D, K450B, K50, SSG220,

Hello ExGould,

thanks for the offer, but i have specific problems with the cpu board from the later Gould Datasys scopes.
have a 4064, two 770A synchroscopes, a 840 and a 944.
They use all the same cpu board, only the eproms are loaded with specific software for the different models.
the problem is the battery on this board, after years they leak and destroy the copper lanes. the cpu board is a 4 layer pcb, so very difficult to trace the connections. it would be a big help if i had the schematics for this board. I have only one working board at the moment. the scopes are working correctly with this board except the 944A which has a problem with the trigger on two channels.
I have a user manual for the 840, but it seems impossible to find a service manual for this generation of gould scopes. looking for it since two years and found recently in Spain a service manual for the 465. But it differs to much.....

Yes - they were coming in just as I was going out. My post was really just to put out my list of manuals as someone in need may stumble upon it and ask for one. I myself only came across the forum searching for something else. However, I may still have contact details for one of the design team. If I find them ,I'll ask for you. Don't hold your breath though!
