What is involved with designing a fuel mileage meter to plug into the
diagnostic connector of a car?
It's a newer, OBD-II compliant vehicle. I understand that there are
different hardware protocols; KW2000, CAN, etc but they are all OBD-II
compliant. I have no problem designing things with microcontrollers,
LCDs, and support logic, but don't know what else I'm dealing with.
There are commercially available meters, but they seem really
expensive. Besides, I'm a do-it-yourself kind of guy if it's feasible.
