Fried capacitor & Var Resistor - Hansol Monitor

A

Artful Dodger

I am repairing a Hansol Mazellan 900P (Model B19AL) 19" monitor.

Customer reported a loud pop, then nothing but power LED and a quiet
tick-tick-tick. In my experience, this is consistent with a LV PS prob. A
check of the HOT shows no problems there.

I found an exploded electrolytic cap, C711 (2.2 uF, 50v) and a melted
variable resistor (VR701) (don't know value) located next to the flyback. I
am assuming this is a result of a flyback short, but am having a hard time
finding schematics, so I can't be sure.

If somone would be so kind as to have a look at these components on their
schematic for this monitor, (I believe the Hansol B19BL is the same) and
reply with the correct value of the resistor, as well as their take on what
may have shorted to blow these components, I'd be forever in your debt.

(Or better still, if you could point me to where I might find this
schematic...)

Thanks for any response - Responses CCed to my e-mail (dodger at answerdude
dot net) would assist greatly!

Thanks..
