Hello all...

I trashpicked this unit in hopes of a simple repair but such is not the
case. The motor appears to have died and only runs very sluggishly or not at
all despite having been thoroughly disassembled and cleaned. I can find
nothing wrong electronically. Everything seems to work at the right time and
the buttons for the tape transport seem to work nicely as the solenoids on
the tape mechanism do click around and do things. Thinking that I probably
need a new motor (and not having any after having lost almost everything to
a sewer failure) I'm giving up on the unit. It is in pretty good condition
with some wear and tear on the cabinet, but nothing is missing and I hate to
just throw it away. All the electronics look to be in superb condition and
appear to function normally.

So if anybody can use some or all of this tape deck to fix theirs, any part
(or the whole unit) is theirs for shipping costs. First come first serve.
I'm in Illinois, USA. Payment for shipping can be any of personal or company
checks, or money order. I'm also open to swapping shipping for older and
interesting microchannel cards (no token ring cards unless they're the old
large 4Mbit version).

I'll keep the thing kicking around for a few weeks, but after that I will be
throwing it out.

My reply to is valid and breaks down to:

I have a IBM PS/2 model 60 server, (no monitor, and the keyboard I'm using
right now :) but the pc itself is there and complete and has a blue
lighting CPU upgrade. I can ship out cards in trade but not the whole thing
(it weighs 40 pounds!). Email me at JDC AT CNYCONNECT.NET if your interested
and want to know exactly whats in it (I'll have to pull it apart inorder to
find out, the last time I turned it on was last summer). I'll trade if that
server intrests you at all.
