I bought this surplus pager

its supposed to do >100m, I have it in a corrugated iron shed sending to the
house 40m away. I can get it to work but the reciever needs to be positioned
outside the house. The transmitter has a 5cm or so loop aerial inside it and
the reciever has a screw in whip type 120mm or so aerial, the transmitters
freq is 303.875Mhz AM and runs off a 9v battery the rec is 12v plugpack. I
know the tin shed is limiting the penetration but what is the best way to
improve my reception? adding a larger aerial to the reciever or transmitter?
and what type configuration?
