Extend Dell LCD Screen?

Hi All,

I am trying to extend the LCD cable on my Dell Inspiron 1150, so I can place it further away from the mother board..Lucky for me it's not a ribbon cable it's just 16 or 17 tiny little wires.

My questin's are, whats the best way to extend it,cut the wires and extend them with longer wires? Is there a certain type of wire I should use,so it doesn't disrupt the signal?

While I will normally agree with you entirely Bob this is a bit trickier

I would see if you can find a long enough bundle of wires (small gauge probably in the 16-20 awg range) then connect them up

no promises but I have seen this work before, the other option is to use the link that Bob provided and make sole use of the VGA out on the laptop and use a secondary monitor/TV

Sorry, I didn't notice that that was a laptop you were talking about. I thought you were just trying to extend a monitor cable.
