Easiest thing in the world - Quiz Board Circuit Project

My younger brother was assigned a to make a quiz board project for physics class, and I believe that instead of doing what is shown on the format sheet, we could make one much more attractive and practical.

Here's my problem... I have never even touched a wire before. So, I just need a little help on the set-up, and what I should purchase. I've already done a little bit of homework about this, so lets see if it pays off.

Basically, we have 6 questions and six answers.
I think I need a momentary button next to each of the questions, that when pressed down will light up a christmas light that is next to that questions corresponding answer.
All of this should be able to fit on a 24'' x 14'' foam board.

So you're saying that when you press the button for question 1, the answer for question 3 lights up?

I'd say you have wired the button for question 1 up to the light for question 3.

And why are you doing his homework?

You said 6 questions and 6 answers but your "diagrams" only have 5 of each.

So you just want a column of buttons, and a column of indicators, with the buttons wired to illuminate the indicators with some predetermined mapping?

You've answered your own question. You need:
6x "momentary" pushbuttons;
6x light bulbs in holders, or LEDs with current limiting resistors (see https://www.electronicspoint.com/threads/got-a-question-about-driving-leds.256849/ );
1x power source to suit the light bulbs or LEDs
Insulated wire

If you want to be smart you could do the mapping between questions and answers using a pluggable module, so you could use it for different sets of questions and people couldn't learn and remember which answer number corresponds to each question.
