e421va vizio 42" no backlight

can't tell if the sound is also working or not simply because it's hard to tell which input im on. i have measured the voltages from the power board to the other boards and it checks out ok. however there isn't any voltage coming from the power board to the backlights. also the main board has a hissing whining noise coming from it. apparently it had been in a home without a power strip between it and the wall and the home's electrical circuit was struck by a surge of lightning. im really thinking it's the power board but could it also be the main board not turning on the backlight from the power board?

there could be a big list of faults after a power surge like that
you may well find it a never ending job of fixing one fault only to uncover another problem and in the end just easier and cheaper to replace the unit
