DVR 620 Ejects tape and powers off

This is a Toshiba DVR 620. Emmediately after putting in VHS tape it powers off and ejects the tape. How can I stop this from happening?

I will say that some will fault if the mechanism is overloaded (binding) or if a belt is slipping. It's very likely your belts are worn out due to age.

The laser is reading a damaged tape. Clean it with an air blower. Then try it again. ok not. It shuts off because the circuits cannot read the tape. Constant power is not used. Timer to this device. lever is broken. a lock is loose, cannot lock. Check the power supply.
