dtmf decoding with the mt8870de

Hi everybody,

What I am set out to accomplish is to complete a dtmf tone decoder circuit. I have searched for a project to do and found this helpful schematic online, (attached). It seems simple enough, I almost have all the parts and will begin the basic testing hopefully next week. What my question is, is do you thin this will actually work? Is this possible? And if anyone on here has done anything similar, do you have any tips/and or problems you encountered so I can steer away from them?

I made no attempt to verify the accuracy of that schematic but yes it's possible and here's the chip datasheet with application examples http://www.futurlec.com/Datasheet/Zarlink/MT8870DE.pdf
