DLT tape drives; FAQ or repair tips anywhere?

I have a number of faulty DLT drives that I'd like to have a go ar
recovering/repairing. Was wondering if anyone knew of some online notes?
All I can turn up in searches is repair centres.

Is there an easy way to make them spit out tapes?
