Digital Thermometer

Hi, I want to make a digital thermometer for wine making can anyone tell me what components i need and a basic circuit to follow. Any help greatly appreciated.

I would think these are avaiable for less money than you could make one. Is there something really special that it has to do, that you cannot get in a commercial unit?

Hi Bob, thanks for your reply. I just want to do it as I am interested in electronics and Ive probably got most of what I need so the cost hopefully will be minimal. I am also interested in using a raspberry pi for controlling the temprature of the wine and displaying it. I would also like to be able to access the readings remotely but thats for another day/forum.

If you want to access the data remotely, look up the NRF24L01+ modules. They're about $1 each, and aside from requiring 3.3V rather than 5V, the hardware aspect is pretty easy.
