Wanted: : Desoldering station

Status
Not open for further replies.
Looking to get my hands on a Desoldering station. Working with mostly through-hole so I don't think a hot air is what I'd be looking for.
A single sucker gun or gun w station.
Not looking to spend alot, under 150?
If it needs work, could be open to that as well.
Hope someone out there has an extra lying around!
Thanks!

It might be worth telling us approximately where you are because we have members all over the world.

Heat board with regular iron, give board quick snap on table, solder flies out of the holes :) Or heat up with hot air, turn board over and do the same thing, the chip and solder will fly out :)

Yep, these are cheap Asian copies but I have used these things for years, they work exceedingly WELL for the money...

Interested in that station!
Thanks for the link, probably get one soon. Seems like a fair price!
Anyone else have experience with this unit? Hold up well and are efficient?

I have a very similar looking SMD rework station.

The soldering iron died after I had it turned up full for a while to de-solder something that was on a massive heatsink. But used for rational things it worked well. I can get replacement parts, but I have another temperature controlled iron that I'm using right now. (hint: get spare elements when you order one -- it's a lot cheaper than getting them afterwards)

Thru-hole? I have never been let down by the beauty attached. Do I get laughed at sometimes? Maybe. But I find these are particularly well suited for cheaply made PCBs in which the annular rings are easily torn off by some of the more 'fancy' desoldering stations.

$28 from McMaster... Solder Sucker

Same thing I use, though I've paid less for my two solder suckers. (One for home and one for my portable tool box).

Eventually I'd like to get a proper desoldering station though.
