Demodulation

Any trustable circuit if I want to design a circuit that will demodulate an amplitude moduated(AM) signal ?

Any suggestion schematic ?

Thanks !

Needed for my mini project ^^

Need some guidance here :)

Thanks ^^

Yeah, for simplicity, start with a crystal radio.

From there, there are various things you can do to improve it. RF amplification before the detector is one. It should not be difficult to find resources for these on the web.

Hey Vicki, i'm doing something similar but demodulating and then sending out through LED's. Want to work together? Let me know.

Btw, crystal radio would be a good choice to start. Siilar to FM i think ...

Sure, but my project should end by mid of May HAHAHA

AM and FM are quite different.
AM is amplitude modulation where the carrier strength is made larger and smaller.
FM is frequency modulation where the carrier frequency is made higher and lower.
What I suggested is for AM only.

That's fine. I'm working on a project along those lines at the moment so if you're interested or if you know someone who's interested let me know. I'm up to the part of storing energy into a cap as in like a Li-Ion battery so i can use it for other parts in my project.

Cheers

Something like that with a preamplifier in the output maybe ?

Pretty much same as john's diagram

When you posted this it went right over my head but that was before I was enlightened! :)

Chris

How am I able to do a AM transmitter and receiver ? My friend will be doing the AM transmitter and I am responsible for AM receiver. Any suggested circuit ?

No microcontroller is allowed

Thanks :)

Urgent help neded :(

In the UK the rules about transmitting are very strict but some people do transmit VERY low power to activate old radios.

Google 'pantry radio' , some are valve based and some, more convenient, semiconductor based.

You will need to use a low frequency unless you are an expert so, run on medium wave and use a medium wave receiver. If you wish to build your own receiver I would suggest a TRF.

I am doing for low frequency and low cost :)

For my lab work project ^^

Thanks !

Look at post #12 Hellastechn gave you the most basic and cheapest AM receiver possible !! :)
