Custom PCB

I'd like to discuss what manufacturers produce the cheapest custom PCB's for hobbyists. There are lots of online company which say they are low cost, but tend to be quite expensive. I know its hard to get low prices for such small orders. A 2x2inch board would be nice.

There may be a similar thread like this, but I haven't found one as of yet.

OshPark will give you 3 boards 2x2 in for $20. The boards are excellent quality 2 sided with silk-screen and solder mask.

Edit: It looks like Olivier has me beat! Is that really $10 for 5 boards, or $10 each for 5 boards?

No I've obtained a quote for a 5cm x 5cm [2" x 2" approx], it really is $10 for 5 boards. Not only that, if you select 2 layers its still $10 for 5 boards.

I'm uk so thats £6 for me

Awesome

For UK either PCB Pool or PCB train. You can order online with PCB train and up load gerber all in one. They will also assemble tricky parts for you like SMD components and all SMD caps and resistors are free. I have used them for many years.

I use those guys time to time:
http://www.seeedstudio.com/service/

They deliver nice value for money pcb's. It's 10$ for 5 pces of 5X5 cm 1or2 layer PCB.
They are delivered in around 3 weeks (to Belgium)

cheers,
Olivier

I have sent them email to see if they can do my board size , and if they can handle the PROTEL 99 SE files
Going by their approximate prices, I would save ~ AU$250 for 25 boards on what they cost me to get done locally

25 boards @ 13cm x 26.5cm, double sided, screen printed, lacquered finish on track side cost me ~ $550 locally

wish I could find some one local with a better price

cheers

There's an Australian guy working out of Shenzen who does the OshPark sort of thing. (It's Hackvana)

There was an informal discussion of this on the mailing list of my local hackerspace. The guy running Hackvana is a member of their mailing list.

Read the thread here.

And I will also be interested in the results of Dave's enquiries...

@Dave, don't know about Protel file but it should be possible to generate, CAD package independent, Gerber files.
@Dan, 1 or 2 layer is the same price because the 1 layer process almost disappear being fitted in the 2 layers board process with non plated holes and "blank" top layer.

I was pointing out that you can get 10 boards for the same price as 5. :D
