Contact repair help needed.

The contacts on the back of this Garmin running watch are scraped partially off. When the watch is placed into the charger cradle the contacts are not making a good contact with the cradle. Looking through a magnifier you can see that the brass material is partially worn off.

My thought was to add solder to the contacts but I'm not sure about this. I also wondered if there was a film that could be added but my searching didn't find anything.

As a last resort I'll just send the watch in for repair but maybe someone here has an idea that I've not thought of?

Thanks for your time.

John

The solder idea is possible assuming the watch case will not melt. I was going to suggest "tin" the existing contacts, and 4 new ones on one side then fuse the new contacts over the old ones. Then again the temperature issue:eek:.

You could have a jeweler clean and gold plate them. He'd have to construct a wax dam on the case to contain the plating solution and it wouldn't be cheap so is it worth it?
