Connecting a PC to the Fronius inverter

Hi all,

I will soon have my first PV system installed, with an IG20 Fronius
inverter.
I am thinking about adding a monitoring system: I would prefer the
'Interface Card Easy' solution, rather then the combination DataLogger +
DataCom (too expensive). I would then need some sort of software that reads
the RS-232 data: Has anyone experience about that?

Thank you for the answer.

Actually, Fronius provides the software (for free) with the DataLogger +
DataCom solution, not with the 'Interface Card Easy' I am planning to use.
For this latter, the protocol is available:

If not too difficult, I would like to write a program to communicate with
the card. I was looking for any example that may already exist (I have been
told that old QBasic should allow this). If you have some hints, that would
be great!
