Compaq TFT LCD monitor.

7020...M # CM 870: Turn it on, the "Compaq logo" appears just for a
moment, then black screen. Place a light onto the front of the screen,
you can see all. Took it apart, all looked ok, soldered a few bad
connections, back together...the same. I didn't get into the
screen/lamps themselves, just the drive circuitry, & internal power
supply. Is there common backlight problems on this unit? Thanks.

The backlight tubes or inverter are a common failure point of any type
of LCD monitor. Replacement tubes aren't very expensive, but do wire
them to the inverter and test run before you take the effort to install
them in the screen.
