Color wheel or DIP inductors

I want to experiment making rf oscillators with the idea of building a very simple 27MHz transmitter with a range of 5m.

I've been trying to source inductors and found plenty of kits on ebay. They are supplied as either :

Is there a difference between these packs ?
What is meant by DIP and Color Wheel?
Will these be any good for experimenting with RF upto 27Mhz?
