So all the LED developers should go about their business, hoping that
Color kinetics attacks anyone else but them? If we all wait until Color
Kinetics loses the inevitable test case, isn't this still a market
inefficiency directly caused by bad patent practice? It's a challenge
to try to stay awake reading CK's latest patent: It's got 109 claims of
invention! That's absurd. The patent for nuclear fusion in a teacup
wouldn't have half as many. Will investors be as sure of the worth of
these patents as CK's legal counsel? Probably not the smarter ones, but
smart money isn't greener than dumb money.
