Changing SPS output voltage?

How difficult is it to convert a 12-volt switcher to output a lower voltage
(ie, 5.0v)? Is is just a matter of changing a feedback resistor or such?

Thanks,

I would rather add on an external voltage regulator circuit for 5 Volts. If
you modify the supply, there may be other issues with current control, and
protection. The higher voltage differential may also cause some heat
problems under load.

It depends very much on the details of the design. Can't answer it without a
circuit diagram at the very least.

If you are very lucky, yes.
Generally at best, you'll get the same ripple, and current capability, and
regulation.
At worst, it may not work effectively at that voltage without extensive
modification.

I have done this succesfully on lots of them. There is quite often a
potential divider on the output with just two resistors and I have changed
the ratios to get the feedback the same from the voltage I wanted.

No guarantees :)
