Cannibalising a cheap P&S film camera

S

Siddhartha Jain

Hi,

http://www.ewis.ca/onlinestore/scripts/prodView.asp?idproduct=809

I get this camera for $12 in India. What uses can I put it to (apart
from clicking photos)?

Possible uses:
- Take off the alleged 50mm lens and use it as a loupe
- Turn the flash into a stun-gun
- The film advance motor could be used somewhere else as well

What other parts can be re-used and put to some interesting use?
Thanks,

Siddhartha

Oh, that is rich. "Acronymic design". "Color viewfinder".

IR Autofocus stuff is fun to play with but this camera appears to
be fixed-focus.

Here in North America point and shoots with IR rangefinders start around
$35-$40.

...."Acronymic Design" ?!?

But looks like you got a deal - they now want $33.49. Still a steal for
a camera that will meet my Professional Demands, at least if those
demands include "Focus Free" operation...

I firmly believe the marketing genius that invented the term "Focus
Free" should get a medal - just before he ceases being "Tar-and-Feather
Free!"

Golly - this is as good as that plastic TV satellite dish antenna that
was "Totally legal to own because it *Doesn't Tune Actual Satellite
Signals!*" =}

Thanks for the guffaws, I'm off to order my own Olympia Deluxe Camera
and then toss all my un-professional non-focus-free Maxxums in the
trash!
