Can I test electronic components whithout removing it from the circuit board?

Hi,

I know how to test the folowing components when it is not soldered to the circuit board:

1. Capacitor

2. Diode

3. Transistor

Do I have the same reading when I test it at the circuit board?

I do not wish to damage the circuit board by removing it as the board is very small and delicate.

Sometimes you can adequately test components in circuit, often you cannot.

The more you know about the circuit, the more you can judge what the effect will be on your measurements caused by the circuit.

If you have a working and a non working unit, you can compare the results, looking for significant variation.
