Can I stack effects

As many of you know, i have recently built a distortion pedal.

Here is my question:

Is it possible to build a delay circuit and add it to the distortion pedal. In other words, a second stage that would kick in delay, on demand by way of a stomp switch?

If so, can anyone recommend a circuit/schematic?

You can, yes, people connect effects in series often. Usually separate pedals though.

For delay, you'd have to use either (a) a tape loop, (b) BBD chip(s), or (c) digital (convert analog to digital, store in RAM, and playback). Probably easier to buy a pre-made delay pedal, or use a software plugin on your computer or tablet.
