can anyone identify this 32KHZ crystal ( has datasheet?)

Hi,

I recently posted here asking if there was anyone who knew where I might
get Dallas DS32KHZ tcxo chips.
There was one reply to the post for which I was quoted for 10
of the SO versions from Town Target Technology .
I got 10 chips (a week's shipping registered so not bad) but they
are not as the Maxim/Dallas data sheet describes them.
The SO packages in the data sheet and in the Maxim web site are
16pin affairs, whereas the chips I have been deliverd are 8pin, so I
think I may have been had.

I guess they could be 2nd source equivalents but as The pin counts are
wrong I have my doubts.

These are marked 32KHZ 012nA6 xxxAA

n is either 7 or 8
xxx is a 3 digit variable string, probably a batch#
the lower chip surface is marked PHILLIPINES.

There are no Dallas markings except on
the plastic tube, where I see an obviously truncated
-71001-50 DALLAS

Can anyone help in identifying them. As I have no idea what the pin out
is if they do not correspond to the DS.

Yes. The Dallas official is show the 16 pins SOP package.

But for the pin (5,6,7,8 and 12,11,10,9 ) is NC ( no connect )

Can you pleased try in your application to see weather the IC
is workable ?

And we have check with the updated version of the DS32KHZ.

They don't have mention the SOP package. The following is the datasheet
for your reference :

Since you haven't provided a *part number* I can't help much but why not simply
ask your supplier ?

Is your data sheet up to date ?

If I knew the part number of this IC I wouldn't have needed to post
here. In all his wisdom, Google, would have probably been able to point
to a data sheet.
I had provided the only info I know from the IC screen prints.
My supplier is helping. He believes these are DS32KHZS from Maxim
but his data sheet also only shows a 16 pin SOP part. He has invited
me to test one which is commendable.

Which brings me to a new question?
Faced with an unknown chip, is there a way I could check from
say DVM readings, which pin(s) are GND, NC, and which Vcc so that I
could test for outputs without destroying the device?

I have a Maxim/Dallas DS32KHZ (DIP) version to compare against.
I have already compared resistance of pin pairs an find
differences? On the known source chip, I have 0Ohm resistance between
pins marked NC and MOhm resistance between others. On the unknown
IC I have MOhm resistance between all. So I might conclude that
none are NC, However it doesn't help to find Vcc and GND.
Would it be safe to just probe with say 5v until I see a wave
on another pin?

there is this note......

Which isn't very helpful but why don't you simply ask Maxim ?

I suspect Town Target were stung as well. They are probably only chip
brokers, not necessarily technical people. FWIW, I have seen fakes at
usbid.com, too. Let us know if you get your money back, including
freight.

I think you are probably right. I'll let you know how I get on.

Here is the reply from Maxim/Dallas:

The 8-pin SO is a package that was never sold by Dallas/Maxim. They
were stolen parts, and will not operate properly. You should purchase
parts only from authorized distributors.

On the other hand, we may able to supply the SOP-16 DS32KHZ from Hong Kong
authorized distributor of Dallas.

Are yo interested of this ? If not, we may just refund payment for you. We

I would like to confirm that the seller has refunded me for the
bad parts in double quick time. It is good to see that there are honest
dealers around who will admit a mistake.
Many thanks Patrick, and I think I could recommend you to others
without reserve. Just make sure that you give/get a detailed description
