Calculator fault: certain segments aren't showing on LCD

I have a Sharp EL-506V calculator and certain segments of the LCD figures are not showing. Is there a likely cause for this kind of fault?

hi

yup several possibilities

1) signals no longer coming from the microprocessor
2) signals are coming from the processor to the display driver but the driver is failing
3) signals are coming from the display driver to the display but there are faulty segments on the display
4) connection faults between any of the above sections

a high probability it wont be repairable
have you opened it up ?
if so show us a sharp and well lit pic of both sides of the circuit board

The fault lies in the connector strip. You need to add extra pressure to get the connector to touch both the PC board and the strips on the LCD module.
