Building small -V Power Supply using Max232

Can anyone help me with building a small negative voltage power supply using a Max232 IC. The data sheet looks like it should be fairly simple. This would be to power the neg input of a LM741 Op Amp.

Thanks...james

The MAX232 is an RS-232 communication chip, why not try a MAX680 or MAX681 or an ICL7660, there should be schematics on how to do this on their datasheets.

From what I see, the Max232 can output -5 volt and -10 volt by using some capacitors as a charge pump.... the two chips you referenced seem to output +5volt and +10volt...not what I'm looking for..
thanks

The ICL7660 is a negative voltage generator I use them often for producing bias voltages for GaAsFET's :)

you havent stated what current rating you need ??

Isn't it all in the datasheet? Using four 1uF capacitors you get -8.5V from pin 6 and +8.5V from pin 2, when it's supplied with +5V on pin 16.
