Bore pump start capacitor

Hi guys, I have a bore pump that recently stopped working. I have determined it to be the start capacitor that's sealed inside the motor and reaching the capacitor inside isn't an option, I would like to fix it as the motors are very expensive.

Im wondering if I can run a seperate external motor control box with its own start capacitor up at the power point, would this cause any problems with the existing start capacitor inside the motor?

Thanks

The Capacitor inside the sealed motor will have at least 1 connection that is NOT accessible from the outside unless you open the motor - in which case you may as well replace the capacitor.

I realised that after I posted this, the start winding on the motor can't be accessed from outside the motor. I ended up getting a new motor, now it's done and I don't have to worry about it
