Boom box/walkman cassette spinner not roataing

National Panasonic RX-F80 Stereo
I have an old National Panasonic RX-F80 detachable stereo radio cassette recorder, the wheel that’s meant to rotate the cassette tape doesn’t work.
I don't know how to repair it, any tips?

It's on the inside. It will either look like a black rubber band or a rubber band that is square instead of flat. Try searching google for some videos.

On the Kangaroo tape unit, is it being powered from the main boom box or are you using 4 internal cells ?
If the latter, do the radio(s) work O.K. ? Thus verifying no corroded battery connectors contacts .
I think that this player has ALL of the bells and whistles . . . a DELUXE unit.
Check out this unit and see if you have MORE or less of a unit than this featured Panasonic . . . or might they be the same.

Considering the radios working and power getting to the cassette portion.
Insert a tape and try fast forward and watch BOTH the left feed reel and the right take up reel and the tape counter to see if ANY movements from any of them ?
Same procedure in fast reverse and its observations.
Then place in play position to see if any reel movements and the additional front center BLACK pinch roller and the capstan drive shaft that it presses into should be turning slowly.

I am seeing only one ~1.2 mm square drive belt from motor shaft to the capstan flywheel, and then only geared friction clutches, are used for the feed and take up reels, so a broken or saggy drive belt would kill all tape transport action. ( ? ? ? You lucky dawg ! )
