Blue Tooth Dongle - Is the BT stack inside?

Hi,

I have a question regarding USB Blue tooth dongles. Do they have the blue tooth stack inside or does the host have to contain the bluetooth stack?

The firmware should have the stack built in, at least what is needed to establish the basic connection... What is included beyond that will depend upon the unit, some basic modules will have the bare minimum others will have a lot more that makes interfacing to them or specific functions easier...
