Out tv is approximately 12-15 years old (Sanyo DS27590 26"). For the past two weeks on three channels a rectangular black box appears near the bottom part of the screen, takes up about 1/4 of screen. If you change the channel and go back to the 'problem' channel, it looks normal but within a few seconds the black box returns. Also when the black box occurrs, the color on the screen looks dull (background, people, objects etc), close to black and white. This problems seems to be off and on. For example we were watching a program mid afternoon and the black box kept appearing. By evening it disappeared.
We thought maybe there was a problem with the tv stations but we checked our other tv and it works fine.
Any ideas of what is going on? Is the tv wearing out? Any ideas of how we could fix this ourselves? Not worth or too expensive to fix?
