Bit of quiz fun

I used to enjoy doing the occasional Sudoku puzzle and was amused when a hexadecimal version of it started doing the rounds.

Just for fun I reproduce here a typical puzzle that I invite other forum members to have a go at. The usual Sudoku rules apply however this one requires 0-9 and A-F in each 'block' to complete - the task is to reveal the 'code' that would appear in the greyed-out boxes.

Some will recognise the provenance of this puzzle so no cheating!

Hello! I enjoy working Sudoku puzzles from the paper every day. This is a new concept for me. I believe I can solve it, but it will take a long time. I will enjoy trying.

Croykee Mick.... it took me FOUR attempts to get the solution! When I make a mistake I find it impossible to roll-back my numbers to establish where it went wrong so inevitably have to start from scratch!

Still, I finished it today!!! And the checksum of 20 fits my answer too.

Congrats on a speedy solution Harald.

Zero / Nada / Zilch?
135
240
5-2=3
4-1=3
remaining digit 3
common answer 3.
cant be 6-3 as 6 not allowed in '?' cell
so must be
3-0=3
...... or is logic too "fuzzy"??:eek:

Point taken - such gear layouts usually include a mechanical 'link', in many cases a collar under the gear knob that requires the user to 'pull/lift' to enable the gate movement, to select reverse.
