Beginner questions..

Hi there,

It was a bit difficult to find this forum (perhaps my google skills aren't the best).

I would like to build my first electronic project. My idea is to get practice as much as I can and build a project that could show the temperature. I have found some of the tutorials that I can use but mostly all parts I can get only in the USA.

As I am located in the UK is there any forum that is based in the UK (same field as here) where I could ask this questions, such as where is the best place to buy the parts for this project (as cheap as possible of course) , what tutorials would be the best etc. ?

Regards

The cheapest place is most likely Ebay -cheapest parts from China .
There is a catch in that ...some times you don't get the real McCoy :(

Dave,
I thought this is a "world based" forum, isn't it?;)

What parts do you need? There are many suppliers in the UK, most will post but Maplin and RS have retail outlets that could be local to you.

Maplin
RS
Potts, Derby (shop only)
Cricklewood electronics
CPC (Farnel)
Bowood (Chesterfield)
etc

Welcome to the forums @electroniclv :).

You'll be able to buy those components in the UK, I'm sure of that - there are a lot of us from the UK on the forums too.

The component suppliers list posted by @duke37 should have lots of options to get you started :). Bowood is great if you just need small quantities of common components (they sell plenty of common items individually, rather than in larger packs), CPC has huge coverage (you'll get pretty much everything you could ever want here) and it is free delivery if you spend more than a fiver.

Thanks, guys!

These are the websites I used not too sure if they are correct. Perhaps you could suggest tutorial for my project ?

1. https://www.raywenderlich.com/38841/arduino-tutorial-temperature-sensor
2. https://learn.adafruit.com/tmp36-temperature-sensor/using-a-temp-sensor
3. http://tutorial.cytron.com.my/?s=temperature&limit=10&ixsl=1
4. http://circuiteasy.com/temperature-sensor/
5.

This website seems cheap for parts (as I am looking as cheap as possible), or is there other places like you said , ebay ?
