Anybody familiar with the Olimex PIC-MCP?

This appears to be a good low-cost alternative to the Picstart +, but I
want to hear some opinions before I buy it. I'm just starting out in
PIC programming, and this will be my first programmer. Anyone?

I've used a couple of Olimex's MSP430 dev. boards, and they work OK.

I've not used the PIC-MCP but I have used their PIC-ICD which performed
exactly as it should. Actually better than the Microchip ICD1 I think,
because the connector is more sensible for prototyping.

If you want to use the 16F87x family I would suggest the ICD rather than a
programmer. The ICD programs and debugs.

Hello,
I have been using this Olimex PIC-MCP with MPLAB-IDE 6.3 and it's
working correctly.
